I'm a bit of an Orion sceptic (I think it would have been very expensive) and it seems to me that the idea of propelling a giant rocketship with a series of atomic explosions was wasted on the Americans.

Yeah, and the amazing microelectronic fabrication that can be done in zero-G factories, and they'd live forever because we all know microgravity retards aging and keeps old bones healthy.

Also they would be way better at selling Tang.
