A stupid question about NewsRadio

I was watching Season Three and noticed that there's an option for subtitles. On closer examination, the subtitles were only in Portuguese. Any idea why Portuguese in particular?

Not that there's anything wrong with Portuguese but I'd have thought Spanish would be a more likely choice (Or English but I think a lot of people don't have my habit of turning the English subtitles on whenever available).

Knowing what role Andy Dick played in Phil Hartman's murder does not enhance the experience of seeing Dick's character on screen.

What role did he play?

Ah, you added the link, thanks!

See, this is why I went back and added the link.

According to Jon Lovitz, Dick is the one who introduced Hartmann's wife to cocaine, and that contributed to the series of events that ended with Hartmann's murder and his wife's suicide.

My friends and I used to see Andy Dick out and about in Hollywood, usually in the process of being thrown out of bars.

Most apt surname for a human being ever. Jesus, what a tool.

Perhaps it became very popular in Brazil?

I can't get the supporting link from the wikipedia entry to fire up in IE. Don't know if it's my machine or what.

Most of these seem to be quoting some sort article. (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&rls=com.microsoft%3Aen-ca%3AIE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7GGLG&q=%22Andy+dick%22+cocaine+lovitz)

"Source article". Bah.

Worked find with Firefox on my creeky ol' machine.

I prefer firefox but have not got the installation to run on this machine.

Leaving out the Lovitz angle, and just looking at Dick's list of misadventures, he still looks like a complete tool.

I had the exact same thought. I never knew about the Hartmann thing before.

[identity profile] viktor-haag.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Bah! (One small point of clarification: you do mean to say that Dick re-introduced Hartmann's wife to cocaine; at least that's what the wikipedia page says.)

The story about Lovitz whipping Dick's ass made me respect Lovitz so much more, even if it's not true.

Portuguese subtitles aren't that common, but given that I'm studying Portuguese I would love to find DVDs I can buy here in the US with them. Any other TV series where they have them that anyone has noticed?

I always think of the "Christmas in Hell" song on South Park, where the happy inhabitants of the bad place are celebrating the holidays.
Gather close together and make it quick
We gotta make room for Andy Dick
Wake his mother and ring the bell
It's Christmas time in hell!
He was funny on that TV show, but...

Many comedians are as decent as all get out. Stephen Colbert, for instance, is a peach of a guy.

On the other hand, the profession attracts some very mentally unhappy people.

The ways of American closed captioning are mysterious.

I was just watching MSNBC this morning, and apparently they only caption during certain hours. Hours which do not include either showing of their early-morning news program.
