Idea for a D&D monster
A fungal infection in mammals that compels the host to find some labyrinth, travel deep into it and then die, whereupon the fungus produces fruiting bodies from the corpses. Intelligent hosts are completely convinced they questing after some nebulous treasure that, if questioned, they will be unable to specify.
