One of my old posts from July 2007 is getting hit with comment spam so I have disabled comments. Is there a way to just prevent more comments from being made? My current solution appears to have vanished all the old comments.
In theory one can set it up to require CAPTCHAs (those annoying images/sound files to prove either that one is human or that one's programs are especially clever), but after taking a quick look I didn't see how to do that, either for an individual post or journal-wide.
I think setting the comments to be screened and turning off email notification (for that post) might be your the best choice.
I'm having the same problem, but since the spam posters seem to have LJ accounts, I don't think screening anonymous posts will work and, as for the captcha, my blind friends would be the ones most penalized by this. Any other options?
