I am forced nightly to sit still with warm compresses on my eyes. The person who times this appalling purposeless tranquility cackles gleefully when I ask if I can remove the compresses yet, although not so gleefully as when they discovered that they had misheard how long I had to sit; I need to be still not for ten minutes but fifteen.

And I am not allowed to fold laundry or vacuum or even slice vegetables while I am blind folded!

Surely you can write, though? Touch typing is not too difficult when you can't see, as long as you keep your hands on the wright home keys. For exampele, I'm typg this comment totally without having my eyese ope at all. It was easy! I can't imagine anything possibly going wrong.

[with eyes open now]. Hmm, my keyboard seems to have problems with the "n" key, and it isn't quite as sensitive as I thought. Obviously all those errors are due to the shoddy keyboard, and not at all due to my touch typing. Although, seriously, that was better than I thought it would be...

I've actually found, that provided I have a good keyboard, placement and posture that I type faster, with not a huge drop in accuracy with my eyes closed. I think it is because I am then not trying to both read and write at the same time.

Downside - if I am using the iPad with a bluetooth keyboard I don't notice when it has autocorrected something it shouldn't.

There is always speech recognition software. Some of it's even quite good once you've trained it properly.

(Nuance's estimates at each new version of how long it takes to train your Dragon always make me, a long time user, snigger.)

Maybe if you promised to fold laundry less sharply in order to decrease the risk of cutting yourself?

On the other hand, no one's going to fault you if you start snoring.
