Hey James? If you're going to insist on doing notes as endnotes, with no hyperlink, please do not also put a numbered list in the body of your article. I was left hopelessly confused for a considerable amount of time.

I think a better method of handling footnotes would be to make them endnotes at the paragraph level instead of the article level. And in either case, since you're on an HTML page, you could make the footnote number a hyperlink that takes you to the footnote itself (with the corresponding number at the start of the footnote taking you back).
