If Ibid is allowed to sample ice cream, he spends the next hour bouncing off the walls. To the point even-tempered Fig hissed at him.

What flavour?

I have caught Noah trying to drink my chocolate milk (which very much surprised me)

Cats will drink the strangest things.

I remember one time,I had set up a mug of coffee by my bed, before bedtime, because I would need it to arise in the morning.

I was lying there with my eyes closed, and I heard my cat come into the room. She jumped up on the shelf where the coffee was.

I thought, "That's okay, because cats don't like coffee. She will sniff it and walk away."

She walked up to the coffee. Pause. ("She's sniffing! Now she'll walk away...")

Lap. ("She'll stop after one sip, because cats don't like coffee...")

Lap lap lap. ("Surely even the novelty will wear off...")

Lap lap lap lap lap lap. ("You're kidding.")

Lap lap lap lap lap lap lap lap lap lap.

"Furcat! Get away from my coffee!"

Then I had to pour it out and make new coffee. And cover it this time.

A friend had this experience with his toddler. "I'll let her taste it so she finds out it's bitter and gross and stops asking me for it!" Noooope.

Well see, that's why you don't let your cats taste toddlers!

If their cats are anything like ours, it's much too late for that; Alex-the-cat was grooming our baby before they were six months old.

Is this a common reaction? I do not have enough test cats around to perform a statistically useful experiment.

I can say that for my lifetime n = 6, I have observed the following:

Refuses all human food = 1
Cautiously accepts ice cream, wanders off as if to say "what's the big deal?" = 3
Urgently applies every ounce of will to cleaning all possible ice cream molecules from any available surface, and afterwards lies around looking like, literally, the cat that ate the cream = 2

Bounces off walls = 0

This requires further experimentation: You have to find out if it is ice cream that does it, or something about that particular flavour of ice cream.

So, Ibid must now be allowed to sample a completely different flavour as well as a sample of salted caramel itself.
