Sufficiently large stacks of money are indistinguishable from magic.

A useful power!

I talked my GM into letting my dwarf bard -- who has the background of "I am a career employee of what is essentially the dwarven equivalent of MI6" -- have a small diplomatic pouch with the ability that he can, at any time, pull from it a sum of money equal to the amount needed to pay an invoice that he is presented with.

Presumably the coins come from somewhere in the Central Office, and there is paperwork associated with this, offstage somewhere, that limits its use to things that are plausibly important to his mission -- but it's not like the the (officially non-existent) anti-espionage branch of the Dwarven Ambassadorial Apparatus has a great need to track funding closely. Not officially existing has its benefits.

I always thought it would be useful for a Mage group to establish that one of their group's magical objects was a Briefcase Full of Money. It's perfectly reasonable to take a bill or two out at any one time, and if you never count the money nobody knows exactly how much is in there. The point being, of course, that as long as nobody empties it all at once it remains a Briefcase Full of Money and the mages can continue dipping into it indefinitely.

You don't think those axes really cost 5000gp, do you?

Money interacts very well with the "consensual reality" of Ascension, I feel.

That reminds me of the "The Gamers: Natural One" show.

The webcomic "Superfogeys" included a hero who, at first glance, looked like a Batman knockoff, but took the name "Moneyman". His preferred tactic with crooks was to buy them off. At least one supervillain switched sides as a result.

Sadly, one of the PCs is already named "Jack(y)" and I fear this would cause undue confusion...

Wasn't there a Justice League where Batman undermined Lex Luthor's scheme of the day by passing money to the Ultra-Humanite?

I'm sure many dwarves would be happy to sell you an axe for 5000 gold pieces.

If not there certainly should be. It's a very straightforward way to handle a problem, from Bruce's point of view.

Mysterious Stranger Totally Not Dressed As A Bat: "There's $20,000 in small unmarked bills hidden in the gorilla enclosure of the Gotham Zoo, right now. There could be another hundred thousand later. It's only going to show up if somebody beats the crap out of Lex Luthor. Any questions?"
