I was a big Smith fan a number of years ago, but I became increasingly disenchanted as his work became increasingly political. It seemed to me to just suck the joy out of it. I would probably have no problem sticking with his first two or three, plus Bucketeers, and that's about it for me. This one, even though it's an award winner, I probably won't bother with -- too many other books that I'd rather read.
