While teens do have judgement and impulse control problems, apparently especially when in groups of other teens, I have to say that having accidents be their top cause of death doesn't mean much by itself; if you're young and healthy living in a time of peace and good public health, your choice of death is limited.

" Accidents was the leading cause of death for males aged 1 to 44 and the third leading cause for males aged 45 to 64. "

In theory the 45-64 range could still have more accident deaths than the younger group; it'd just be that those deaths were outranked by aging deaths. You'd want to compare the actual rates.
