I guess I could revive the old name for this event, too

f I organized a Perseids viewing party, would people be interested? The peak this year happens to fall Aug 12 > 13, which is to say Saturday to Sunday. I know of two or three possible venues I could try to book.

I would love to attend, if we had passport-free teleport booths. As it is, I'll be at Worldcon in Helsinki instead.

I suppose I should not ask what the old name for this event was, since context is for the weak.

If a Perseid boinks you, you know your day is well and truly ruined.

As it happens, we have a place about two hours from Waterloo, in Lowbanks, and ordinarily we'd be there for that weekend anyway. Alas, we're moving houses from one to another in the States in August, thus cutting short our sacred getaway time. Otherwise, I would definitely be up for such a soiree.

Alas, there are too many lumpy rocks, redneck cows and half the Canadian Shield arrayed to the East of me.

Enjoy my meteors! See, one of those days is my birthday. My father used to assure my small self that the Perseids were special just for me. Even at a very young age, I recognized loving parental hooey when I heard it.

(By the way, did your Tanith Lee reading series include Kill the Dead, and I just happened to miss it?)

By August the peons will no longer be allowed to leave the US and international travel will be restricted to people with an American net worth of at least ten million dollars or personal ties to the dictator's family.
